Our Story
Unspoken Minds was founded by two passionate student leaders dedicated to raising awareness about schizophrenia. Personally connected to loved ones living with the condition, they witnessed firsthand the challenges, stigma, and isolation many face. Moved by these experiences, they set out to create a platform that fosters understanding, amplifies real stories, and builds a compassionate community for those affected by schizophrenia.
The name Unspoken Minds reflects a painful truth: schizophrenia is a condition of the mind that is too often left out of conversations. Many who live with it feel unheard or unseen. In fact they aren’t silenced by just the illness itself, but by the stigma that surrounds it. In many communities, the topic remains uncomfortable or avoided altogether. By naming the organization Unspoken Minds, we aim to break that silence and give voice to lived experiences, promote honest dialogue, and bring attention to what’s too often pushed aside.

Though it’s a lifelong condition, with the right support and treatment, people with schizophrenia can live meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Schizophrenia affects people of all ages, genders, races, and backgrounds. It typically develops in late teens to early adulthood, though it can occur later. About 1 in 100 people worldwide live with schizophrenia. It not only impacts those diagnosed but also deeply affects their families, friends, and communities.

Schizophrenia is often misunderstood and wrongly associated with multiple personalities. However, it is not. This misconception, along with media portrayals of violence or unpredictability, fuels stigma and fear. In reality, many people with schizophrenia live meaningful lives with proper support.
